Below are the committees/committee members selected during the Transition Meeting on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 @ 7:30.

Construction Oversights (Pre/Post)

1. Atrium maintenance during construction

2. Butterfly/Saving the plants in the butterfly garden

3. How much of the Azalea garden will be taken up by the new driveway?

4. Contingency plans if construction is not completed (Post-Move)

Transportation

1. Bus ride may be stressful for some students

2. Will there be a way to make sure the kids go to the bathroom before getting on the bus?

3. Bus aides will need to be provided by PTA

4. PTA carpooling for special events

5. Picking up sick children for families who do not have cars

6. Do we have flexibility to alter schedule (start earlier or later), if needed?

7. What public transportation is available to get to Grosvenor?

8. Possible 2nd grade mentors on the bus

9. Harder adjustment for kindergartners and 2nd graders who will be moving to Piney Branch

10. Can we have someone from the transportation department be on this committee to actively engage in discussions?

11. Seat belts

12. Where will kids be picked up and dropped off?

Afterschool/PTA Programs

1. Accommodating before and after care

2. School activities will be less accessible such as assemblies, book fair, art night

3. Can we use the city buildings for meetings? Use Piney Branch or Takoma Park MS?

4. Afterschool clubs-will we have them and where? (The clubs sponsored by PTA)

Pre-Move Prep

1. Possible visit to the Grosvenor School towards the end of this year on a bus for: current students, parents, new kindergartners to tour the school

2. Liaison to work with staff, provide help

3. Move to Grosvenor over time after other school leaves

4. Talking to all students about what they will be expecting next year

5. Will there be an open house for parents & kids

6. How will the kids be notified of the move?
