Welcome New and Returning TPES Families

The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) welcomes you to the Takoma Park Elementary School (TPES) community for the 2007-2008 school year. Our PTA is a group of parents, teachers, and other community members who share a common goal : to support the children at TPES . Our school has a tradition of strong parent and community participation, which has helped create the wonderful learning environment that is TPES.

Come to the Meetings

Please come to our first meeting, Tuesday, August 28 th from 7:00 to 8:30 pm . This is an opportunity to meet or reconnect with other members of the TPES community, and to learn about the PTA, the school, and how you can help. Free child care is provided for children 3 and older.

Meetings are normally held the first Tuesday of each month during the school year. Details are available on our Web site: http://www.tpespta.org , where you will also find a calendar and other useful information.

Meetings are open to all, though only paid-up members can participate in official votes. If you are unable to attend the meetings, we hope you will still consider joining the PTA and helping out in other ways. We will be reaching out throughout the year for volunteers.

Join the PTA

We encourage everyone to join the PTA. Your $10 membership fee ($15 per couple) supports our PTA as well as the larger parent PTA organizations. If you cannot afford the fee, please talk to any PTA officer and we will try to help. The PTA sponsors after-school classes and a variety of community events. We also support our teachers each year through monetary contributions for classroom supplies, books, appreciation breakfasts and lunches. The PTA is you; we need your energy and ideas.

Volunteer

While already have a lots of wonderful volunteers lined up to help with many of the activities we will be sponsoring throughout the year, but we still need you! Let us know if you want to help and we'll find a job that suits you.
